February Transition...
After rooting for the Patriots in the Superbowl, we started to wind down our time in the apartment and pack the little stuff we had unpacked over our 2 month stay there.
GOOOO Patriots... (we still think they rock!)
A Valentine's Day shot of the family <3
Our house was completed mid-February and we said "Good Bye" to apartment living and hello to the blessing of a new home.
Moving our stuff out of the apartment.
I took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese's for a birthday party in the middle of moving day which worked out well to give them a break from all of the craziness. Earlier that morning they had also spent a couple hours with a wonderful family from our new church who offered to have them for a play date during the moving festivities. Both of these outings helped make the day a little easier for Micah and Jonah.
Here is Jonah showing off all the boxes in the new house after Pearce and a full crew of volunteers and moving help worked to collect our stuff from the apartment and storage to the house.
That night, we were so blessed to have some new neighbor friends stop by with food and company. Gloria and Scott's kindness went further than they knew that night as we were soooooo exhausted. Scott provided a couple of hours of company and a helping hand for Pearce to get all of our bed frames put together so we had somewhere to sleep that night. Gloria was so wonderful with the kids, reading them books and playing with them while I scrambled to find the bedding and some PJs for the kids. It was truly a wonderful gift to have them call us up that night and stop by and welcome us to the neighborhood.
The following day Micah and Jonah had a blast "rediscovering" their toys and playthings.... here they are after finding and trying on some of their dress up clothes. Micah dressed up like Princess Ariel and Jonah like a cowboy.... all ready to get married they told us. :-) They are buddies.
First order of business... unpacking the kitchen. After about a day or two I had that done. I took this photo late at night after accomplishing the task and unpacking the last kitchen box. Ahhhhh! Felt so good to have that done.
Here is a panoramic shot of the downstairs (looking out from the kitchen) taken with a cool iPhone app. This was after a few more weeks of unpacking though.
:-)
We really do love the new house. The layout of the space, the cabin-y and comfortable Northwestern "craftsman" style, the neighborhood, and the close proximity to work (6-7 miles to work) are all wonderful.
Now that we are a little more settled, stay tuned for a few more posts to share what we have been up to for the past couple months. Thanks for your patience in the absence of blog activity. With moving, starting my new job, and trying to develop a new routine, it's been a wild but awesome ride!
